ABOUT
Chrysalis Circus is a production company specializing in bringing circus arts to the community stage. We strive to connect circus artists and aficionados to each other. Nested in Redmond, Washington, Chrysalis Circus also has an in-house aerial team, led by artistic director, Vivian Tam. Chrysalis Circus continues to grow and redefine what it means to be in the circus and for what it means when the circus is in town.
MEET THE ARTISTS
AERIAL TEAM
The Chrysalis Circus aerialists are Whitney Graves, Willow Foster, and Vivian Tam. They have over 25 years of combined aerial experience. All three are also instructors on the eastside.
VIVIAN TAM - ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Chrysalis Circus is the concept and creation of Vivian. Vivian is a veteran aerial artist in the greater Seattle circus community. Her roots are firmly planted and heavily inspired by the neo-vaudevillian, burlesque, and contemporary circus artists of Seattle.
Vivian has performed all around the globe. She is also an aerialist with AIDA cruise, flying while sailing the high seas. Locally, you may have spotted her in a variety of venues and shows including Moisture Festival, The Triple Door, and at Suite Lounge. You may visit her personal website here.
Prior to running away and joining the circus, Vivian was a graphic artist with a BA in Studio Arts from University of California, Irvine. She is always seeking ways to incorporate her passion for both visual and performing arts together. She is thankful for how supportive the community has been in her adventures.
So, why the chrysalis? Vivian has been a life-long insect enthusiast and delights in the gooey process before one becomes the butterfly. She often wonders if she should have been an entomologist in another lifetime.
